Bob Moritz, Global Chair, PwC:

To solve the climate crisis, every one of us has a role to play.

As a reflection of our strategy to build trust with stakeholders and deliver sustained outcomes, we’re committed to leading by example.

In 2020, we made a commitment to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

There are 5 things I am particularly proud of….

First, our climate targets were independently validated as being in line with a 1.5 degree scenario.

Importantly, our climate targets cover emissions across our whole value chain, including both direct and indirect emissions across scope 1, 2 as well as 3.

Second, recognising that our commitment is going to take an effort across our whole business, we now have a net zero leader in each country in which we operate around the world to drive local execution and we have committed to halve the carbon associated with delivering our services by 2030.

Third, we are contributing to the transition to net zero around the world.

For example, we are a proud member of the UN’s Race to Zero, and the Business Ambition for one point five degrees.

Specifically, We have joined the largest public-private coalition to expand the market for high integrity carbon credits as well as protect tropical forests and we've also committed to accelerate the supply and use of sustainable aviation fuel.

Fourth, we continue to support the development of globally aligned ESG reporting standards by collaborating with standard setters and organisations like the World Economic Forum.

And finally fifth, we’re upskilling all of our people on the importance and relevance of climate, ESG and all of the related issues and supporting our clients as they develop and implement concrete net zero plans and embed ESG across their organisation.

As a community of solvers, we are uniquely positioned to bring the right combination of people, capabilities and technology together to support the worldwide focus on the net zero transition.
